January 24th, 2016
I was on a high from the celebratory weekend I just had, but my spirit was so low.
I couldn't figure out why until I received a text that said, "Sorry for your loss".
It was sort of a first for me. I had experienced death before,
but not this close to home
and definitely not in it.
January 30th, 2016, we laid you to rest.
And then,

And then,
Life went on.
April 21st, 2016 (The World Lost a Prince, but We Lost a Queen)
Life was going on, but I was struggling to go with it.
I was putting on faces,
that helped me pretend,
but wasn't sure how to navigate this new territory.
All of a sudden the new territory became all too familiar.
I received a call from a doctor, who informed me that you were on life support.
Two days later, on the 21st of April, you were gone.
January 30th looked real familiar to April 30th
and grief, as a whole, became a familiar part of me.

I started this blog because of them, but I also started this blog for you.
You. Who just recently experienced a loss.
You. Who experienced a loss years ago, but are still trying to put the pieces back together.
You. Who are anticipating a loss.
You. Who has no idea where you stand with grief.
And so many more of you!

I am not an expert by any means, but how does the saying go,
"experience is the best teacher"? Well I just want to share some of my experiences with you
and pray that it will help you to finally take the needed steps in your journey with grief.
What I do NOT want to do is replace a licensed professional.
I'm still a very strong advocate for counseling. You should go! Yes you!
Even if you're just reading this to support me. Counseling is for everyone!

2016 will forever be a year that I will remember. It was the year I encountered grief so closely.
It was the year of weakness, and because of my weakness I clung to 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 "Each time he said, 'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.
So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles
that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

10
years later I choose to boast about my weakness.
It's when I'm weak
It's when I'm in denial
It's when I'm angry
It's when I'm bargaining
It's when I'm depressed
It's when I'm Accepting
It's when I'm Grief...that's when the Lord is strong!
